Cave Guide
Overview
There are two types of caves in Luma Island. One serves as a shortcut for efficient movement across the area, while the other is for mining materials such as ores and gems. This page focuses on the caves where mining is possible.
The materials that can be mined in these caves can also be found outside, but in very limited quantities. As a result, professions such as the Archaeologist, Blacksmith, and Jewelrycrafter need to enter these caves during the crafting process. Additionally, many constructions require large amounts of ores and gems, so visiting these caves is essential if you intend to build such structures.
Each of these mining caves is located in one of the four main areas: the Farm, Forest, Mountain, and Jungle. Each cave provides access to different types of materials.
- Farm: Abandoned Farm Cave
- Forest: Lost Forest Cave
- Mountain: Frozen Mountain Cave
- Jungle: Forbidden Jungle Cave

When you enter the dark areas of a cave, the screen will gradually darken, and after a few seconds, you will be treated as dead and ejected from the cave.
To prevent this, you will need to place torches as you progress. Since each torch has a limited radius of light, it is essential to bring plenty of them with you. Once placed, torches cannot be retrieved.
Except for the narrowest cave, The Abandoned Farm Cave, you will quickly use up to around 100 torches.
Torches will dim after a certain amount of time, but simply walking over a torch will restore its brightness.
Materials Obtainable in Caves
Here is a list of materials found in caves. By upgrading your pickaxe, the amount of material you can gather from each object will change. When fully upgraded, you will be able to collect 1 to 4 pieces of material from a single object.
Abandoned Farm Cave
Copper Ore | Bronze Rubble | Mountain Crystal | Tiger’s Eye | Kyanite |
Lost Forest Cave
Iron Ore | Silver Rubble | Pyrite | Bismuth | Crocoite |
Frozen Mountain Cave

Charcoal |
Charcoal can be obtained from all four caves, but the number of pieces you can gather from a single charcoal object varies. In the Farm Cave, you can collect 6 pieces, in the Forest Cave 8, in the Mountain Cave 10, and in the Jungle Cave 12. Therefore, if you need a large amount of charcoal, it’s best to gather it in the Jungle Cave.
Dangers in the Caves
Special Rocks
Inside the caves, there are rocks that release gas when struck with the Pickaxe and rocks that explode a few seconds after being struck. While these rocks are not present in The Abandoned Farm Cave, they appear frequently starting from The Lost Forest Cave. If you don’t quickly move a safe distance away, you will be treated as dead and be thrown out of the cave. Be careful.
Exploding rocks will break nearby rocks and gems, causing them to drop items, just like when mining with the Pickaxe.

Enemies in the Caves
Spiders can be found in the caves. They appear when you strike a gem with your Pickaxe or after staying in the cave for a certain period of time (around 3.5 minutes). The abilities and the number of spiders that spawn at once differ depending on the cave, but in any case, you can fight them using the Whip.
Even if you are attacked by a spider, you won’t die or be thrown out of the cave, but you will drop a random selection of items from your inventory at that spot.
The spiders in The Abandoned Farm Cave are red, the ones in The Lost Forest Cave are green, and the ones in The Forbidden Jungle Cave glow purple, making them easy to spot. However, the spiders in The Frozen Mountain Cave don’t glow and can be hard to see if they are hidden in the darkness. Here are the other differences between the four types of spiders:
Farm Spider | Forest Spider | Mountain Spider | Jungle Spider | |

About Arachnophobia Mode
There is an “Arachnophobia mode” in the game for players who dislike spiders. When enabled, all the spiders are replaced with ghosts. You can toggle this mode on or off at any time from the options menu.
Cave Reset Device
All caves contain multiple reset devices that restore the cave to its original state. When activated, a countdown begins, and when it reaches zero, the cave is completely reset. Any torches you have placed will also be removed. If you have exhausted the resources in a cave, use the reset device. These devices are typically located near the corners of the cave.
Reset Device. Be careful not to press it accidentally.
Alternate Exits in the Caves
Each cave has one alternative exit, where a treasure chest and an Ancient Book can be found. The Abandoned Farm Cave is narrow, so you can see the alternative exit by moving the camera from the entrance. The caves in the Forest, Mountain, and Jungle areas are larger, so you won’t be able to spot the exit from the entrance, but if you search the cave carefully, you’ll be able to find it.
