FAQ
Gameplay
General
- QIs there no fast travel?
- A
You can fast travel using warp points found in the houses you can build. These allow you to travel to different areas like The Forest, The Mountain, and The Jungle. You can also craft vehicles such as bikes or cars to easily get to the center of The Town.
- QHow do I switch my Luma?
- A
Open your inventory, select your current Luma, then select a different one to switch.
- QI can see the purple chest near the bar where Bill is, but I can’t reach it.
- A
This chest can’t be opened until you finish the main quest. It just contains a regular purple chest, so don’t expect anything too special.
- QHow do I get the book on the cliff in The Farm?
- A
The cave entrance near the cliff is connected to the Abandoned Farm Cave. Explore the cave and you’ll find the exit that leads to the top of the cliff. This kind of shortcut exists in caves throughout the game.
- QHow do I open the treasure chest surrounded by pillars with blue crystals?
- A
Try throwing something at the nearby blue crystals. Breaking them opens the door to the chest. Note that you’ll need to destroy as many crystals as there are symbols on the door.
- QWhat’s the Talking Stone quiz about?
- A
It actually explains the story of Luma Island and even hints at the choice you’ll have to make at the end. Be sure to read it carefully.
- QI can’t find the 7th Ancient Book.
- A
It’s tricky! This one is located inside the Lost Rose Cave in The Forest area.
- QCan I build a house?
- A
There are three house types you can build, but you’ll need a Drawing, materials, and a Permit for each. For more details, see this page.
- QCan I remove something I’ve built?
- A
Yes—just hold an axe and you can remove it.
- QPicking flowers and mushrooms takes too long.
- A
Use a Hoe to gather them more quickly.
- QI have a hard time with spiders.
- A
There’s an Arachnophobia Mode. Turning it on will replace all spiders with less creepy alternatives. You can toggle it on or off at any time in the settings.
Farming
- QDo I have to harvest crops one by one?
- A
You can harvest multiple crops at once by holding the action button. Upgrading your Hoe allows for even faster harvesting and is also very helpful when tilling soil.
- QHow do I catch animals that escaped the fence?
- A
Use a Bug Net to catch them. This also works for Lumas placed in nests.
- QManaging watering and weeds is overwhelming!
- A
Use Sprinklers for automatic watering and assign Rabbits to remove weeds.
- QMy crops aren’t growing.
- A
If there are no weeds, bugs like Beetles, or water issues, it may be that the crop requires Fertilizer or a Beehive to grow. Get close to the crop and it will show what’s missing. For more details, see this page.
- QWhat should I do if I tilled the wrong spot?
- A
Use Hay on the spot. Two applications will return it to normal.
Pirates Update
- QCan I use my old save data after the new update?
- A
You can transfer your items using the Save Transfer feature, but story and quest progress will reset. Your original save data remains untouched. If you want to return to the previous version, you can do so by switching to Vanilla Mode—your data won’t be lost or overwritten.
- QWhat gets carried over from a pre-update save file?
- A
Everything placed in The Farm (animals, crops, etc.) will be packed into a special chest next to the Caravan in your new farm. Tools, blueprints, craft benches, and structures will be refunded as resources and money in the same chest.
- QWhat are the differences between the three new game modes?
- A
The three modes differ in the following ways. You can switch between them at any time.
- Cozy Mode: A relaxing mode with no enemy attacks unless provoked. Cheaper prices, higher drops, and no lethal traps.
- Adventure Mode: A balanced challenge. Some enemies can defeat you, and dying can send you back to a checkpoint.
- Hero Mode: A hardcore mode with lethal traps, dropped loot vanishing after seconds, lower drop rates, and higher upgrade costs.
- QWhy do Lumas now catch bugs and gather mushrooms?
- A
The update introduced five new abilities that Lumas can have, and each Luma now possesses one of them. Some of these abilities let them catch bugs or gather mushrooms. See the Luma page for more info.
- QWhy can I only buy the Old Druid Runes from the General Store?
- A
In the latest update, the number of Mega-Structures was reduced to five. Previously, all Mega-Structure crafting materials were available at the General Store, but now only the Old Druid Runes remain there. The other required items are sold exclusively at the Mega-Structure Shops, with each shop offering one unique construction material. These shops also sell various general items like other vendors.
More details can be found on the Mega-Structures page.
- QWhy are Permits no longer sold at the General Store?
- A
Permits are now sold at the Lumberjack’s Shop instead of the General Store.
- QHow do I reach the small island north of The Pirate Cove?
- A
You can’t reach it by conventional means like building a bridge. You need to craft the Pirate Shipwreck, which becomes available after restoring the Old Pirate Book. Once built, it allows travel from The Farm to the island. For more info, see the corresponding page.
